After an agonizingly long wait, we are expecting a baby in our home in March 2005!! We are sooooooooo excited!!! When I try to tell people, I usually get choked up, so I haven't done a good job at all making calls. Sorry everyone! Chad had to tell our parents because I couldn't get the words out.
Sully, on the other hand, doesn't seem quite as enthusiastic as we are. He must be sensing some changes because he barks at me now. Maybe he knows he's going to have to share Chad's attention or that he won't be quite as spoiled. Poor puppy!
Thanks to a lot of early monitoring by our doctor, we found out I had low levels of the hormone progesterone (progesterone is needed to facilitate implantation and to prevent rejection of the developing embryo). I've been taking the supplement Prometrium since Week 6 to boost my hormone level to increase the chances that Baby will be healthy. I'll take my last pill next Thursday (Week 12). The placenta should be producing the hormone on it's own by then.
Another advantage to the early monitoring is that we had two early ultrasounds to get to see why I was nauseous and urinating so much! Dr. Gentry definitely spoiled us! Now we'll have to wait until Week 18 to get another. At that point, we should be able to find out whether Baby is a boy or a girl. When we find out, we'll be sure to let you all know.
So far, I don't have too many pregnancy complaints. I haven't had any morning sickness or moodiness (Chad may disagree, but he's wrong). The worst I've had to deal with is looking in the mirror and seeing more zits than I had in high school! Otherwise, it's just been the usual: fatigue, nausea whenever my stomach gets empty, breast tenderness, and saying good bye to any pants that were on the tight-side a few months ago. As you may have noticed from the belly shots, I haven't put on much weight yet (fluctuates about 2lbs) but I know that will change soon. Bring it on! I'm ready for the big belly!!
About a week and a half ago, we rented a Doppler off the internet. It amplifies sound and allows you to hear the baby's heart beat. We played around with it twice but couldn't hear anything other than my heart beat. At our first prenatal visit, the doctor found Baby in about 30sec! Later that night, we found it on our own. We made a recording and it's posted on the site.
That should bring you up-to-date so far. We'll let you know of any progress as it comes so be sure to keep checking the site. Talk to you soon, Angie and ChadComments:Add a comment:
