Xander, Emilie and Baby #3

September 2004

We had our second appointment with the ob today. The first words out of our doctor’s mouth when she walked in were that I’ve only gained one pound, which isn’t enough. She wants me to put on a ½ to one pound a week. Chad understood that to mean he should take me out to eat more often. (I like the way he thinks!!) Although, he wants to go to his favorite restaurant every time we go out. Thai food is good, but I don’t know about that good!! : )

She answered all the questions I had for her but unfortunately couldn’t think of a reason to get me out of jury duty in two weeks. She gave me a sample of a new prenatal vitamin to try. This one has a stool softener—should be interesting! They also gave us a list of offices where they can do the BIG ultrasound. A radiologist is going to do it. I just hope three things: 1) The radiologist is as experienced as a ultrasound tech and can accurately tell us Baby’s sex. 2) S/he schedules a long enough appointment to determine Baby’s sex. 3) If they can’t tell while we’re there, they schedule us for another appointment!! Can you tell I really want to know?

We listened to baby’s heartbeat and she pointed out that the staticy noises we kept hearing were Baby moving around. (You can hear it a few times on the 12wk recording we posted.) The movement is still to light for either of us to be able to feel it but it’s nice to know s/he is in there moving around! Chad has been giving dance lessons in the kitchen lately so we think Baby is practicing his moves. We haven’t decided yet if that’s a good thing! : )

A very reliable source has identified the sex of Baby for us: my 5yr old nephew Caden. He walked up to me yesterday and told me he knows if the baby is a boy or a girl. Baby is a boy and his name is Peter Parker. As you can tell, he LOVES Spiderman. We also have reliable info that Baby will be cute. My 6yr old nephew Shane put his hand on my belly and said, " Aww! He's so cute!"

We made it through the first trimester and are now in the second trimester!! That means the progesterone supplement is done, too. One less pill to take everyday. When I finished the Target brand prenatal vitamins I had been taking about 2wks ago, the doc prescribed a prenatal vitamin to replace it. It is, by far, the worst pill I've ever taken!! It's a gigantic, horse pill that has the most unbelievably bad taste!! I'm hoping when I go back to the doc next week that she'll allow me to go back to the Target brand.

As for other symptoms I've experienced during the first 12wks...nothing much has changed. The zits are finally starting to clear up though. I won't miss them! The empty-stomach-nausea is still here. We experienced a bout Sunday morning in Marsh. I didn't eat much before 7:30am mass and ended up dizzy and lightheaded by the time we finished our grocery shopping.

The last few mornings as I've been looking in the mirror, I've noticed things are getting a little bigger. When I mentioned my belly to Chad today, he said it just looks like I'm putting on weight but not necessarily pregnant. I guess that'll be coming soon. Yeah!! I can't wait for the big belly!!!
