This was the most uneventful doctor's appointment so far. (That isn't a bad thing!) The only "excitement" was that I asked a nurse if I could give my urine sample early. While we were sitting in the waiting room, Xander kept running his leg or knee or foot over my bladder and I couldn't stand to sit there any longer!
During the appointment, we found out that I gained 3lbs over the last 2wks so I'm up to a whopping 17lbs now! I told Dr. Lee about having two more "episodes" of cramp like pain last week. She wasn't too concerned because I'm not experiencing any other pre-term labor symptoms. I also haven't had any contractions yet either so she was glad to hear that.
The last thing she did was listen to Xander's heart beat and measure my uterus. As soon as she squirted the goo and touched the probe to my belly, Xander kicked a good one! (This kid is JUST like his Daddy! All attitude!!) She got a good laugh out of that! Then she measured me and said that I was measuring just fine this time. She figured the measurements that were coming up short were because my uterus tilts back and Xander had probably been in a weird position. So the concern of slow uterine/baby growth is now gone! Woo hoo!Comments:Add a comment:

We came back to Jay Co. this weekend to visit family. Last night we went to Chat Bar in Chattanooga, Ohio for dinner with Grandpa Dave and ordered deep fried pizza (sounds interesting, huh?). A little while later, we got to watch Xander have his first taste. It was hilarious!! He must have either loved it or hated it. He was sooooooo active last night! He was sticking his hand up and moving it across my lower abdomen (which I couldn’t see) and Chad was trying to grab it (unsuccessfully). Then he started moving his giant feet around. At first he was just sticking one straight out and allowing me to measure it with my fingers (between 1in and 1.25in long!). Then he’d stick one out about an inch or so starting just below what’s left of my belly button and run it all the way over to my left side. He did that at least 4 or 5 times. Chad was amazed! I thought his eyes were going to bug out while he was watching!

We just got back from another doctor’s appointment. I put on 4lbs since the last appointment, which Dr. Lee was happy about. All those goodies at Christmas, New Year’s, and the football get-togethers must have helped! Next, she went over the test results from the last appointment. No gestational diabetes (woo hoo!) but my platelet count seems to be on the low side of normal. The lower end of the normal range is 150,000 and my count is at 154,000 (it’s not uncommon to drop while you’re pregnant). I told her that my gums have been bleeding when I brush my teeth and that there’s always blood in my Kleenex when I blow my nose. She’s not concerned that I’m going to bleed uncontrollably, just that bleeding might take longer than I’m used to to stop. It’s nothing to be too concerned about, just something to keep an eye on.
She asked if there were any new aches and pains to report so I told her about having dull menstrual type cramps around my pelvic area. She said some women experience that type of pain when the baby’s head is moving down or that possibly I had been on my feet too much the day before, considering that it has happened on two separate occasions on the same day of the week.
The last thing she did before we left was to measure the height of my uterus. It tilts back, so she was having a hard time feeling the top of it. Last month it was measuring in at 24-24.5cm, slightly under normal (27cm), but she wasn’t concerned. She didn’t voice the measurement this time, but did mention that is seemed too low. I’m not sure if his position affects the uterine height but she tried feeling around to see if Xander had moved (he was head down around New Year’s). Apparently his head is over by my left hip right now. She rechecked the last ultrasound results and was reassured that his growth seems to be normal. I start seeing her every 2wks for the next 6wks, then every week. If my uterus/Xander doesn’t seem to have grown enough, she’s going to order another ultrasound to check everything out. Another thing to keep an eye on. Maybe he’s just a camera-ham already and wants his picture taken some more!
Regardless of all that, Xander seems to be happy in there. He’s always moving around! He doesn’t seem to stop moving and nap unless Daddy reads him a book. All the movement is supposed to help develop muscle tone. With all that kicking and punching and flipping, I swear that he’s going to look like a body builder when he pops out! He’s really working at developing his lungs, too. He’s been getting hiccups at least 4-5 times a day now! He should be a good yeller when he gets here! His eating habits haven’t changed much…he still wants mainly salty foods. His eyes must be sensing light better now. Whenever I lift up my shirt so we can watch him stick out a knee or his head (his favorite new past time is to stick a body part out and leave it there for awhile, deforming my stomach), he stops moving. We joke that he doesn’t like the cold, but it’s probably the light change that he’s reacting to. Our little guy seems to be getting ready to meet us! We can’t wait!! I don’t think the next 10wks will go by soon enough!! Thank goodness the next month and half is going to be exceptionally busy! It’ll make time pass by more quickly (hopefully)!Comments:Add a comment:
