About 2wks back on a Saturday, Xander woke up hungry at his normal time of 5:45am. Chad and I both went downstairs to warm up his bottle and chatted while Daddy fed him. Since we were both still tired at 6am, we brought him back upstairs and put him in bed with us as we tried to catch a few more ZZZ. That's when Xander spoke his first sentence: My dad...baba. Of course we stared at each other, said that it had to be a fluke and then clapped and made a big fuss for him. Yesterday morning as we were getting ready to head out the door for work/daycare, I put his soccer ball behind him on the couch so I could grab everything else needed for the car ride. Then we heard him again (as he was straining to grab it): my ball. That's when we began to wonder if both instances could be flukes! We mentioned to one of his teachers what he had said and she told us that one of the former big boys in his class, Nate, walked around claiming everything as his own--my this, my that. Could hearing "my" constantly for 3mo have stuck with him even though Nate has been in a toddler room for the last 2½ mo?!

I've finally found a trait Xander has gotten from Mommy. It seems so far that everything is coming directly from Daddy--the looks, the eyes, the hair, the attitude. We've been noticing for quite awhile now that he's always trying to pull his socks off. We just figured they were something to pull on (and maybe were getting in the way of chewing on his toes). The other day when we picked him up, his teacher told us that he was getting mad because he couldn't pull his new and bigger socks off (his socks are almost always off when we pick him up--I just figured they were too small, which made them easy to take off). He wasn't happy until they finally took them off for him. Well, that's what we have in common--I hate having shoes and socks on, too. Speaking of shoes, we don't even have any that fit him now because he refuses to let us put them on him. That's my boy! : )

Xander was sitting on the floor playing with his Fisher Price Fish Bowl while I was scanning in his daycare pictures. He kept picking up the balls and throwing them so I kept picking them up, giving him 2 and dropping the other one into the fish bowl. He finally realized that when I did that, music plays and lights turn on. So tossed the other two right in!! Maybe Daddy IS going to have a Larry Bird, Jr!!! : )

We get weekly reports from the daycare center telling us what Xander did that week. We got another funny one this week. Since the 3 older kids moved up to the toddler room, Xander is the only boy in his class. He was eating that up this week! He's already getting gifts from girls!! One day Ellie gave him some toys to play with and he giggled like crazy. On Wednesday, he was back with his girlfriend Ava and they were HOLDING HANDS!! Too cute!
This week the focus of the lesson plan at school/daycare was apples. So guess what the kids made? An apple pie! The kids got to scoop apple pie filling into a pre-made pie crust. Xander's teachers said that he liked squishing the apples between his fingers. We've added a couple pictures to the daycare album for everyone to enjoy.
He's also decided that he's not going to eat vegetables anymore. For a few weeks now, he's been growling at us when we try to feed them to him, but he usually eats them anyway. Over the last week, we haven't been able to get more than 10 bites into his mouth before he clamps it shut and refuses to open it. We thought maybe he just didn't like the Stage 2 mixed veggies but that doesn't seem to be the case either. Yesterday at daycare was the first time he growled at them when they tried to give him some and it was plain green beans, which he used to love. Hopefully this passes (he wouldn't eat rice cereal at first but he got over that) so meal time isn't such a struggle!
The latest bit of fun for little man is standing at the coffee table or love seat that houses all of his toys. He pulls up holding our hands and immediately wants what's up there so we turn him towards one or the other. He grabs a hold and will stand there by himself for ~10sec until he grabs a toy. How long will it take him to figure out he can grab hold and pull up by himself?Comments:Add a comment:
