HE'S MOBILE!! He figured out sometime between Friday night and Saturday morning that not only is rolling over fun, but it can also get him to where he wants to go. Now he's rolling all over the place to get toys, people, the dog, and simply to entertain himself. I guess we'd better start baby proofing!

XANDER TOOK HIS FIRST ASSISTED WALK TONIGHT!!!

Some of the well known and lesser known 7 Dwarfs have been visiting since late last week--Sneezy, Happy, Grumpy, Snotty, and Poopy. He had his fifth poopy blow out since Monday this evening and we were upstairs hosing him down again. After some floor swimming (during which Daddy put him in a crawling position and Xander giggled hysterically), doggy playing, and story time, I stood him up and held him under his arms just inside the door way to his room. Then I noticed he wasn't standing below me but in front of me--those little feet started moving towards his lounging doggy!!! I yelled at Daddy to come up and look and he stared wide-eyed as Xander walked towards him. Unfortunately, I had to break his trance to strongly urge him to go get the camcorder. Once he finally got it going (the battery was dead), he came sprinting up the stairs and got a few steps on film. The end came when Daddy asked if he was walking and he looked down at his feet like What are you doing?! Then he realized how tiring the walk was to the top of the stairs and slouched down in exhaustion. It may be a race between crawling and walking!! We'll try to get the video on soon.

He also made another discovery tonight: belly flopping to get a toy on the wood floor in the kitchen hurts!

Xander has added a few new tricks to his repertoire. On Monday, he decided he had to have the toys that were out of his reach in front of him. To get them, he's going from a sitting position to his belly!!! Usually, he leans all the way forward and if he can't reach them, he gives up and is content to entertain himself. I guess moving things out of his reach won't work anymore!

When he's on his belly (which he doesn't seem to mind as much anymore) he's moving around more. Using the swimming motion, he has turned 180ยบ. He's really moving his legs around, getting his butt up in the air, and pushing up on his hands. Now he just needs to do it all at once and he'll be off!

The other new thing he's doing is calling the dog--although we don't think he knows he's doing that! Chad calls Sully by making the "kissing noise" (I don't know what else to call it) and Xander has started doing it over the past week. He must really be in the imitating people around him stage right now. They told us as daycare that he's really been watching their lips move when they talk to him and he's been moving his lips--trying to mimic them--but no sounds comes out. He also does the dog call by sucking in his cheeks. We think that one started out when he was playing with his new tooth (rubbing his tongue over it) and the sound was just a byproduct. Regardless of how he learned it, it's funny to watch Sully run up to him after he's been "called" and then stand there waiting to see what he wanted. Xander just gets all excited because his doggy came over all by himself to play!

Xander finally got his first tooth today!!! His lower front teeth have been trying to come in since July or August. The left one finally won the battle this morning!! It was really bothering him this weekend so we knew it wasn't going to be much longer. He's always running his tongue over it, which makes for really funny faces!!
