He wasn't content with just rolling everywhere for long (probably because he couldn't get to everywhere he wanted to go or at every toy and forbidden object--doggy toys, Daddy's PS2, rugs, dog dishes). His next way of getting around was to lay on his belly and scoot around, at first only backwards but then also in circles. We think this new mode of transportation was just as frustrating as the rolling in the beginning because he still couldn't really go where he wanted. Then he started scooting on his bottom. This has been most productive because he could actually reach the things in front of him but he doesn’t do it very much. Now he’s preparing to do what we’ve been eagerly anticipating and dreading at the same time—crawling. This past weekend he started pushing up to his hands and knees. Yesterday he started rocking back and forth. It’s only a matter of time now! Hopefully he’ll have perfected it after we take the Christmas tree down! : )
Now here’s everything else he’s been up to in the last few weeks: He’s started babbling new “words—dododo and doody-doody. I don’t know why but it’s absolutely hilarious to listen to! His winter coat (and snow pants) finally came in. They were on back order for a few weeks but made it here just as the cold weather and first snow started to fall. He really liked it…until he had to be put into it twice a day. Now we go through the two daily fits he throws when he gets his coat and hat put on. How many more months of cold weather does he have to endure wearing this torture device?! Last week we started using some baby signs (more, eat, drink, milk, all gone, etc). Hopefully he’ll catch on so that he has some way to express why he’s so mad and frustrated with us! He’s also graduating to some table foods. For now just soft fruits that he can eat with his hands, although there would be more on his menu if he had it his way! The family history of food allergies has made the introduction of new foods way too slow in his opinion. Between Thanksgiving and a baby shower for our friends Stacy, Colin, and Piglet, he’s gotten to spend a lot of time with family and friends during the last month. He has loved all the opportunities to smile for the camera—what a camera ham! However, there was one thing he didn’t like about it—all the new people. It seems that he’s finally starting to recognize strangers. For the most part, he doesn’t mind someone he doesn’t recognize being around him as long as he can see either Mommy or Daddy (or one of his regular teachers). If we start to walk away, he starts whimpering and putting his arms out for us to rescue him. So far we’re still okay to leave him in the morning at daycare but we doubt that will last much longer, especially since we’re going to be off with him for about 2 ½ weeks around Christmas. I don’t think we’re ready for those sad cries and tears as we walk out of his room!! :(
I think that summarizes most of his activities over the last few weeks! I'll try not to wait so long for the next update!Comments:Add a comment:
