Happy Father's Day!! Xander made his daddy some gifts and gave them to him this morning after having a Hardees breakfast. They also participated in some extra snuggle time and a nap. The rest of the festivities for the day include Daddy grilling some steaks, having a few beers, and hanging out on the deck with his two boys.
The hottest week of the year so far (the 90ยบ+ days) our new air conditioner decided to break. That was fun! Since it was sooooo hot, Xander got to be naked baby during the evenings and that weekend. At first he didn't seem to like having no clothes on but he quickly got used to it. We took a bunch of pictures and especially liked the shots of him napping with his little behind stuck up in the air. Heather and Findley came by to visit on Saturday and gave Xander his first IU blanket (which Heather made for him). We also went to visit the Mitchels and have dinner. Part of Xander's ended up on Luke's shoulder. He didn't seem to mind since he knows his baby girl will be doing that to him sometime during September.
He seems to be doing a lot of growing lately. At the beginning of the month he became too long for most 0-3mo clothes and moved into 3-6mo. This week he's graduating from his size 1 diapers to size 2. His care givers have also commented that he's been napping a lot more lately (he has been at home, too) and that his bottles just don't seem to have enough in them for his expanding appetite. He recently worked his way back up to keeping 5oz down so we've bumped him up to 5 1/2oz. That seems to have stopped the screaming when the bottle is finished.
Xander got or will be getting some new toys this weekend. He started playing in the exersaucer at East Street Station this week. His feet don't quite touch the bottom so they put a blanket underneath him, which apparently didn't stand a chance of staying in place. Miss Erin said he loves playing in it. He raises his eyebrows and makes even bigger eyes (yes, that is possible) and starts babbling up a storm. (He does the same thing when he spots a ceiling fan--one can keep him occupied for quite awhile.) So we're headed out today to get one for him. Lately when he's been mad he seems to calm down when we sit him up so he can see. Daddy ordered him a Bumbo seat and it arrived on Friday. At first, he didn't really seem to like it but the few times he's been in it he hasn't seemed to mind it. He kicked back, chewed on his fist, and drowled all over it. He's also started squealing in delight this past week. Most of his excitement seems to be directed towards that ever-interesting ceiling fan. Too bad the one in his room doesn't work!Comments:Add a comment:

Friday Xander went in for his 2mo well baby appt and to have his breathing re-evaluated. Dr. McIntire listened to him breath and gave us the news we didn't want to hear--the breathing treatments probably won't be stopping, at least not any time soon. He did say he could go down to 3 treatments a day instead of every 4hrs. If all goes well over the next 2wks, he can go down to twice a day for 2wks, and then stop. If he sounds horrible in between treatments or after stopping, he'll have to increase the number per day. As for the shots, they weren't as bad as we thought they were going to be. The nurse walked in, pinned his legs between hers and the examining table, stuck him 2 times in each thigh, and slapped the band-aids on. Xander SCREAMED until I picked him up, then he immediately stopped. He even fell asleep before we left the office! How is that possible?!
Then the fun started. Xander woke up hungry at 5:30am Saturday morning. Unfortunately, his breakfast didn't stay down for very long. After that, we learned to give him his next few bottles out on the deck. Clean-up became much easier--just spray everything off with the hose. We also had a new diaper experience--a blow out on the front side! (Chad described that as the most disgusting thing he'd ever seen!) Since then, he's only gotten sick in the mornings and the diarrhea is still here. Needless to stay, he didn't go to daycare today and won't tomorrow either. Hopefully this latest bout of the flu won't stick around much longer--we're keeping our fingers crossed as we do a couple extra loads of laundry.
Little man has transitioned seamlessly into the Lilly Day Care Center. His new caregivers love having a little baby to watch again and he loves all the attention. He's even picked up a new skill from the big kids--blowing spit bubbles. Lately he's been combining small "words" to make big "words" and ends the sentence with some bubbles. It's soooo cute!! He even talks to whatever he can see now, whether it's his stuffed animals we hold in front of him, his mobile, or the toys on his tummy time mat. He's also learned that he can grab with his hands and stick whatever he's got ahold of (my hair, his blanket & bib, our shirts, his toys) into his mouth. (I'm working on getting a picture.) Saturday he appeared to enjoy his first tub bath. He must have realized that he can kick in the water and that it creates a bunch of flying water. Maybe baths will last longer than 5min now! I think we have a movie fan on our hands. We joined Blockbuster On-line so we've been watching a lot of movies lately. Xander must have realized what we were looking at because he watches TV now if he's facing it. Daddy's not to happy to have a budding couch potato on his hands!Comments:Add a comment:
