We're a little behind on putting on an update...okay a month behind! Xander has been up to so much in the last month, where do we start?! : ) I'll try to go in order as best as I can remember. Xander graduated to riding in his stroller without being in his car seat. He sits in like a big boy and loves watching the trees (a future tree hugger like his Mommy and Daddy?). We heard the sweetest sound at the end of June--Xander's first giggles! Grandma Cindy was playing with him during a visit to Indy and there came that precious sound! Now he laughs at everything that's funny.
Xander has decided he doesn't like to lay down anymore--that's for babies. So he won't lay back in his car seat anymore (he tries to sit with his head and shoulders pulled up in what looks like a very uncomfortable position!) and a lot of the time he'll lift his head off the floor when he's laying down. He must be giving his abs a really good workout--although that belly still looks pretty round to us!! : ) He looks particularly uncomfortable on trips back to JayCo. so we're looking into upgrading him to a big boy car seat. Then he'll be sitting rather than laying. He also realized that when we put our fingers in his fists, he can (attempt to) pull himself up.
Monday and Tuesday (7/11-12) when we were at the hospital visiting Grandpa Dave (he had a successful unclogging of his carotid artery--no bypass was necessary--woo hoo!), he starting "singing" to everyone as he rode down the hallways in his stroller. Now he sings all the time--in the car, getting his diaper changed, to his puppy...you get the picture. It started out as an I'm-getting-ready-to-cry sound, then he must have liked the sound of it so he just kept doing it. His latest way to amuse us is by singing at church. He must have figured he can sing better than some of the old ladies there! This past Sunday he decided that mass needs more songs because he was singing while no one else was! He's such a nut!
And for his latest trick, he rolled over from his back to his belly!! He has been sooooooo close for sooooooo long now, but he finally made it all the way over last week. His problem had been getting over his arm--he would have his face flat against the floor, his leg over but couldn't quite get his shoulders or hips completely turned. He had a much bigger audience that night so he must have thought that he needed to wow them.
He's also visited with a lot of friends and family during this past month. We went home for the 4th of July and he got to spend time with the Bungers, Grandma/pa Minch, Great Grandma Beatrice and Great Uncle Richard. He had fun watching Brayden running around. Those two should be causing all kinds of trouble by next year! Then he attended his first bonfire at Grandma/pa Weitzel's neighbors--the Barretts. He got to spend time with the Herndons, Auntie Sa and Tyler, and John and Janet Barrett. He loved all the trees, walks around the pond with Grandpa, and the fire. By the end of the night, he was sleeping on the swing with Grandma. The next day was just as busy going to Great Uncle Paul's 70th b-day bash. There were so many people there, overestimated baby slept through it all! Back at Grandma/pa Weitzels, he got to play with Aunt Jama, Greg, and clan before the 4th cookout. Caleb loved holding him and kissing him.
Back at home, he got to have dinner with Luke, Jenny, and Baby Girl Mitchel and they brought him "My First IU Words" book. As you can see in the picture, he must have been trying to put his moves on Baby Girl pretty early on! : ) Then he had dinner with Collin, Stacy, and Piglet. They're going to have the ultimate surprise of finding out if Piglet is a baby boy or girl in January. So he didn't put his moves on this one (yet). Auntie Sa stayed with us for a couple of days to burn a bunch of picture DVDs and Aunt Jenny came for a visit, too. So he was as charming as ever. Then Uncle Chad and soon-to-be Aunt Michelle stayed this weekend so we could go shopping for a dress and flowers for their Myrtle Beach wedding in September. So he's going to have a week without visitors--he'll probably go through withdrawal! : )
We'll try to post updates a little more regularly so no one has to suffer through a long one like this again! : )Comments:Add a comment:
