There's a little girl at Xander's daycare center named Ava that's a few weeks younger than him and they've become best buddies. His teachers told us this week that he "yells" at them to move him over to her if he sees Ava playing across the room. When he is sitting with her, he tries to give her toys. The other day, Ava's mom came to visit and picked her up. Xander yelled at her, too, about taking away his playmate!

It seems that now he has graduated to an elementary school crush. Wednesday while they were sitting across from her, he took her socks off her feet. Later, he grabbed her by the shoulders and started babbling to her. His teachers said it was adorable to watch!

Our little Romeo! Such a romancer!!

Little man was back at the doctor on Friday for his 6mo check up. He's healthy as can be and meeting the milestones. He weighed in this month at 22lbs 3oz and 28¾in (although we thought it looked more like 29¾in). We could have sworn that they told us at his last appointment that he didn't have any shots this month--we were wrong! He got another 4. After the first one, he looked at the nurse like Why did you just do that to me?! When she gave him the second one, he couldn't hold back any longer and let the pain out in a breath-holding, red faced cry. They gave us a sample of Tylenol and some Enfamil, which came with a couple toys so he was instantly happy when we got those out.

He did really well the rest of the evening while we celebrated a friend's 30th b-day and he tried to palm little Alli Mitchel's head. But by morning, his immune system was going at full bore--fever of 101º, sleepy, and cranky. Needless to say, it was a bad day to attempt his 6mo pictures (we really aren't that cruel, we just didn't know he was getting shots!). He was okay for the first few but didn't make it any longer so we're heading back this Sunday to finish the rest.

By Sunday afternoon, smiley boy was back! He dazzled us with his new interest in standing and pulling up (with our assistance) to a standing position. Daddy got him a new toy while he was out grocery shopping and he played with it all day. He kept flipping it over to try to find the hiding animals on the bottom. (Daddy thought that was especially cute!) We also gave him a sippy cup to get used to. I put a little water in it and he let me know I wasn't allowed to take it away until he figure out how to get every drop out! So now he not only looks like his Daddy but is showing that he's inherited his stubbornness, too! : )

Xander has got to be the most laid back baby ever! He was in the car for 14-15hrs on the way down to Chad and Michelle's wedding in Myrtle Beach Thursday and he only cried once and that was while we were passing through the Smokies (the pressure was probably making his little ears/head hurt)! He slept most of the trip but kept himself occupied while awake playing with his toys (and then throwing them and waiting on someone to pick them up) or talking to/laughing at the baby in the mirror. We were sooooo impressed! His favorite part was probably the rest stops though because he got to play with his Aunties Sa and Ninny, Uncle Ryan, and Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Paul.

Since we arrived at the beach kinda late, he didn't get to play in the surf until Friday (the only day the beach wasn't red flagged due to Hurricane Ophelia). Once the horrible task of being rubbed down with sun screen was over, he had a blast!! At first he wasn't quite sure what to think of the waves splashing his legs or what to do with the sand but he quickly decided he liked them. Later that night the whole crew enjoyed dinner with the engaged couple at Margaritaville. He was mesmerized by the people making balloon hats while walking on stilts while (a future career?).

Saturday he got all dressed up and attended the wedding of his new Aunt Michelle and Uncle Chaddy. He made sure to take a nap while everyone was getting ready at the chapel so that he'd be awake for the ceremony. Aunt Michelle looked beautiful and Uncle Chaddy was handsome as they said their vows under the gazebo. After pictures on the beach, we all headed over to the Flamingo Grill for a fantastic dinner. Little man was a little less thrilled with his because those hiding teeth were bothering him again (will they ever push through?!).

Sunday we made another trip down to the beach. Although the sand was more tasty that time, he was a bit intimidated by Ophelia's big waves so we headed to the pool. After a nap, he got into a pool for the first time--and it was hilarious!! The air was a little chilly and the water was a lot chilly so he literally clung to Daddy the whole time. When Chad would attempt to pull him away, Xander would rip out handfuls of his chest hair!! (Okay, so Daddy didn't think it was that funny but everyone else did!) That night he made his first trip to Hooters to watch the Colts game (the first of many?).

Monday we headed back toward our part of the country but made a pit stop in Gatlinburg for the night. He enjoyed watching all the people during a stroller ride through all the shops. The next morning we made our way up the mountain. From his perch in Grandpa's arms, he didn't understand why we were having such a rough time struggling in the thin air as we made our way 0.5mi up to the top of Clingmans Dome (the highest peak at 6,643ft)! On our way back down, he hiked part of the Appalachian Trail before falling into his carseat exhausted.

Daddy can't wait to take him on another vacation next year but has vowed to never drive again! : )

Xander had a busy weekend! Wednesday when we picked him up from daycare, we found out that he had caught the flu that had been going around because he puked all over himself, Mommy, and the floor. By the time we got home, his temp had shot up to 101.6! And on top of all that, he was still battling those lower front teeth that are still struggling to come through. Needless to say, he was miserable! By Saturday, he felt MUCH better so we made a trip up to Zionsville to visit his new buddy Alli Mitchel (he didn't visit much--he sat out in the car). On Sunday we made a trip down to Greenwood to do some last minute shopping for our impending trip to Myrtle Beach to see Uncle Chad marry Michelle. (We can't wait to see Xander dip his toes into the ocean and some sand for the first time!) He finished up his weekend by going to Rib Fest Monday afternoon. He enjoyed some blues music and rice cereal and bananas while Mommy and Daddy had some BBQ chicken. He also got to meet a new buddy--Delainey Hatten (she's such a doll!). They babbled to each other, smiled A LOT, and shared their toys. Then Xander zonked out for the rest of the afternoon! If he thinks that was a big weekend, he better prepare himself for this weekend!! : )
