OK, since late last week I noticed that I was able to feel this enormous baby rolling around a few times a day. S/he seems to be taking up residence on my right side beside my hip. It seems REALLY early compared to Xander but since he was hiding out in the basement for so long, maybe my pelvis was concealing any early movement (?). Or maybe it was because I had no idea of to what expect. I was beginning to think that maybe I was just imagining the little guy/gal's movements until Chad said he thought he felt baby moving around on Saturday night. It SHOCKED us both that he felt anything already!! Then just a few minutes ago--I'd SWEAR I was just kicked or punched!! So now I'm either really crazy or this kid ia more active than Xander!! That could be trouble!! : )
And I think Baby is going through a growth spurt. This past weekend the early AM trips to the bathroom started. Oh, those are soooo much fun. : ) And I have yet to get full since Saturday or get enough sleep. This feels soooo much more real now! YAY!!! : )Comments:Add a comment:

It seems that Xander has become a bit confused. When we first found out about Baby (and the bulge started), we would point to my belly and tell him there is a baby in there. He would mimic me and point at my belly and say baby. We were sooo impressed! : ) Since then, he’s been pulling up his shirt, pointing at his belly, and saying baby. Hmmm…seems we didn’t get our message across very clearly!! : )
And he is now making car noises whenever he sees cars, real or toys. It’s so funny to take walks around the neighborhood now! We stroll down the street and as he rolls by a truck…kkkkrrrrrrrr! As we drive down the street…kkkkrrrrrrrr! As we walk through a parking lot….kkkkrrrrrrrrrrrr!Comments:Add a comment:

Xander has absolutely loved the warm weather. From the minute he gets up in the morning until we drag him to bed at night, he's begging to go outside! He stands at the windows signing Please Please until we take him out. Although he didn't seem to mind at all, his first trip into the backyard with shorts on was disastrous! He hasn't really learned to accept help going up and down the step from the yard onto the deck and INSISTS on crawling. That resulted in SEVERAL splinters all over his knees and shins. We learned that the best time to try to remove them was after he was sleeping because he fought it less but we still haven't managed to get them all out yet.
I'm also pretty sure that we've walked every possible route in our neighborhood pulling Xander in his wagon. As if we hadn't already guessed that the first thing he wants to do after getting home from school is to take a wagon ride, he'll crawl over to, stand up, and push it towards the door until we catch on to his subtle hint.
Another new development for little man is becoming courageous enough to finally walk on his own!! Well, when he wants to. He can walk across an entire room by himself (which measured 16 steps) and he gets adventurous and even follows people walking out of a room...but he'll only do it when he wants to. He's definitely got his Daddy's stubbornness!! : ) And as I'm sure you can all imagine, he's taken quite a few tumbles in the process. Two bruises were just healing on his forehead when he fell at school and got a third. Everyone we walked by this weekend pointed out that he must be learning to walk. It must be that obvious!Comments:Add a comment:

We had our first OB appt for our new little guy or gal. As of yet, no weight gained but that’s not surprising at this point. Most of the rest of the appt was rehashing all the medical history we gave in ’04, reminding about "problems" during Xander’s delivery, and trying to remember if we had a cystic fibrosis test completed already (they couldn't find any paperwork saying that we did so we're doing it this time around). Dr. Lee asked again if I worked around chemicals and voiced her opinion that she wanted me to move away from that type of work setting. I told her I was working on it.
And finally, she checked the growth of my uterus and wasn't satisfied--she said it seemed small for my due date. So much to our surprise, we got an ultrasound while we were there to check on his/her growth!! (An ultrasound machine was a much appreciated addition to her practice since we were there last year!) And yes, for all of you wondering, there is only ONE baby in there--she checked thoroughly for us. Baby is growing just fine. In fact, s/he is measuring ahead of schedule already, too! (My barely adjusted due date puts me at 10wks 1dy pregnant today and Baby measured in at 10wks 5dys.) She also commented on how much of a mover Baby is. I guess s/he has something else in common with Xander! When she was finished, we all remembered that my uterus tilts back so it always measures smaller than it should. Then came the stick for a million vials of blood to be taken and we were out the door. Of course not without some more oohhing and aahhing over Xander’s eyes and comments about how big he is and much he looks like his daddy from the nursing staff. And words of encouragement that Baby is a girl and will actually have some of her mommy in her. Only time will tell! : )Comments:Add a comment:

We are proud to announce that Baby Minch #2 is on the way!!! Xander is going to be a big brother!! What makes this one so exciting for us is that we didn't need any medical intervention (other than maybe any benefit we received from the all docs helping to get Xander here) and we weren't labeled with the status infertile this time (we avoided it by one month)! This news has been soooooo hard to keep a secret, which is why there were so few updates added during March when we found out--I was afraid I'd just blurt it out! : )
Here’s how the first 9wks 5days have gone—without a single constant symptom (other than the obvious one!). With Xander, I had the immediate sore breasts, swollen lymph nodes, empty stomach nausea, frequent trips to the restroom, complete exhaustion, and times when I thought my esophagus was attached directly to Xander’s stomach. So far with Baby #2, I’ve experienced some extra potty breaks, the need for an occasional nap, and a few times that my breakfast/lunch didn’t make a dent in my appetite but none of those have lasted more than a few days in a row. It completely freaks me out if I think about it too much! : ) I guess I should just count my blessings and shut my mouth! : ) I am having some early food cravings though. With Xander I craved Taco Bell. With this little guy/gal, I’m craving jalapeno poppers. It’s the weirdest thing!
And for those that maybe wondering, yes, we’re going to find out the sex again. Neither of us are that patient! : ) Although we’re both already guessing that Baby is a boy--we already refer to Baby as Xander’s little bother. Actually, Chad is guessing that there are two little guys in there. (NOT funny!) I just remind him that we grow ‘em big in these here parts and call Baby Enormo Baby. I’m not as nervous about the delivery this time, even with that thought in mind, because I know how fabulous an epidural really is but the thought of another 9lber + is mind boggling!! : )
This baby is going to mean a lot of changes for us though. 1) Our 2 bedroom house will no longer be big enough. Carpenter Extraordinaire Chad DeHaven has agreed to help us fix up the Sully damage, finally finish our downstairs flooring, and make any other repairs we/he find(s). We're also going to get a painting crew in to paint the living room with a 16ft cathedral ceiling (us attempting to do that on our own could only spell disaster!). Then we think we'll be ready to put it on the market and start shopping for a more spacious house, preferably in Brownsburg. 2) We already got rid of Chad's old beat up car. Now we're discussing the dreaded...minivan. Just the thought sends chills up and down our spines! But in the end, it would make life easier and mean we wouldn't have to board Sully every time we head up to JayCo. 3) Xander will need to move into a big boy bed. This probably won’t be much of a problem though as he already sleeps on a cot instead of in a crib at school. He made that transition seamlessly and still hasn’t rolled off it once! Let’s hope I didn’t just jinx him! : ) 4) This one will be the hardest change--we're going to have to move to a different daycare. : ( I can't even describe how truly sad that makes us!! We LOVE...no, ADORE East Street Station, the teachers, and Xander loves his friends but the expense for two just doesn't seem manageable. We're thinking that we'd like to find an in-home daycare but are having trouble finding anyone that can recommend someone. Hopefully there will be plenty of time between moving and changing daycares and changing beds and his brother’s arrival or Xander will be the most stressed out less than 2yr old ever!
Regardless, this is such an exciting time and I’m already counting down the weeks until our first ultrasound! : ) (We’d already had two at this point with Xander! I guess there are some benefits to needing a fertility doctor!) We’re already teaching Xander that there’s a baby in Mommy’s rapidly expanding belly and he’s even said baby a few times while pointing at it!Comments:Add a comment:

Well here's a slightly late update--the one about Xander's birthday. March 14th started out the same as normal for Xander, except that mommy was carrying around the camera and taking pictures of every move he made! The excitement started for him when he got to daycare and they had a sign and banner up for his b-day (other things he seemed less than thrilled to be posing with!). He had a great time being loved on by his teachers and playing with his friends. When we got home, he had a present to open from two of Chad's co-workers, Beth and Karen. He seemed more frightened by the bag than eager to pull out the contents! That night was wrapped up with a bath and a new bath toy. That was the worst ending we've had to a bath...ever...because he had to stop playing with his new toy! He heard a bedtime story and the big day was over. Exciting, huh?! : )
The real excitement was saved for the weekend when he had TWO birthday parties!! Due to the size of our house, we didn't figure we'd be able to fit both of our families and some friends + kids in here all at once so we had family over on Saturday and friends over on Sunday. Both parties started pretty much the same way--Xander woke up from his morning nap to find his house full of people and thought it was kind of strange. He enjoyed watching all of his older cousins run around and play with his toys on Saturday and liked playing with his friends Reed, Alli, and Vivian on Sunday. Another thing the parties had in common was that he wasn't interested either day in opening his presents. However since then, he's done nothing but play with the toys and beg to have his new books read to him so I guess he just had to warm up to the stuff! : ) The stuff we were most excited to see our families carry in were items to put in his 1st Birthday Time Capsule to be opened on at his graduation party. We think it will be so wonderful to watch him read letters from his family and see items that were around when he was born. From moving the box around though, we think the thing he’ll enjoy most is opening the glug-glug sounding item Grandpa Paul wrapped securely for him! : ) And finally, the most disappointing thing for most of the guests both days was that he didn’t dive into his cake and make a huge mess. Mommy and Daddy found it hilarious that he just picked at the icing and got pretty mad when his hand was shoved in the cake by others. That’s pretty much the way he eats at any other time (except with mac n cheese…the cheese sauce is always smeared all over his face!). Grandma Alice always wasn’t surprised that he didn’t make a mess because she said Daddy wouldn’t get dirty either when he ate. Like father like son! (Sigh)
A big thanks to everyone that came for helping to make the weekend special for him (and us), even if he didn’t seem to thrilled about it at the time! Hopefully the memories captured will be appreciated by him some day down the road!Comments:Add a comment:

Sorry for the delay in getting an update posted. It's been a tough month. On Tuesday, March 21st, my (Mom) grandfather/Xander's great grandfather Cletus Weitzel passed away at 86. We'll just say that was a long, rough weekend that we don't want to be repeating anytime soon! : (
When we all got back home, Xander went in for his 12mo appt. We found out that he's finally starting to level off growth wise--he put on less than 1lb and grew about ½in in 3mo! That's a record! He only had to get one shot this time and was even allowed to sit on my lap to get it--that didn't help any! Otherwise, he got a clean bill of health and is free to eat and drink whatever he wants (other than honey--not until he's 3).
That night we said good bye to Chad's car that we've had for nearly 7yrs. It finally stopped running altogether and was getting frequently tagged as an abandoned vehicle so we donated it to charity. Xander could have cared less that it was leaving but he LOVED the big truck hauling it away! (He's definitely got Weitzel blood in him!)
Not long after that, the coughing and fever started. At its highest, it reached about 103ºF. He went on to daycare because we figured it was just the effects of the shot and made sure they gave him some Tylenol. That day, Thursday, March 30th, we heard more bad news. Chad's uncle Ed Minch had passed away unexpectedly in his sleep at 71. However, before we headed home for yet another funeral, Xander was back at the doctor's office with a sinus infection with drainage that caused ear and eye infections (I think that's accurate). I went in to my doc the next day to get some antibiotics for my sinus infection. Chad couldn't avoid it for long and just went in today to find out he has a sinus infection and bad ear infection.
After all of that, surely we'll only have good news to share in April! : )Comments:Add a comment:
