Xander peed on the potty!! 2 times!! OK, so there were only 2 drops each time but he's trying (really, really hard). Last night after he finished his bath and was getting dressed, he said he wanted to wear a pull-up instead of a diaper. (We ask him the diaper or pull-up question daily. Most of the time he tells us he wants to wear a pull-up but then changes his mind when we tell him he'll have to go pee pee on the potty if he does.) Since he was going to watch a few minutes of Disney Cars (for the 4millionth time) before bed, we decided to let him wear it. He was SOOOOO excited!! We had to call Grandma Cindy and Grandpa Paul so he could tell people!
Before going to bed, Mommy told him he had to go on the potty to keep his pull-up on or he had to put a diaper on. And he actually agreed to go on the potty!! That was the easy part. The hard part was convincing him to sit on the potty. He kept telling us there are monsters in the potty. So Mommy came up with Monster Spray (the air freshner sitting on the back of the toilet) to keep them away. After several sprays, he finally agreed to sit down. Then after A LOT of trying, he made pee pee!!! We were all soooo excited!!! He got to have some M&Ms (his agreed upon reward), put on a new pull-up, and go to bed.
This morning he woke up with a wet pull-up (they're actually Pampers Easy Ups, which are pull-on diapers so no wetting through worries). No surprise since he had a glass of water after his nightly bike race through the neighborhood. He said he wanted to wear a pull-up again today so we were back to spraying away the monsters and he made a few more dribbles. He received tons more praise, high fives, and M&Ms before we rushed off to Donna's today with a pull-up on, a bag on M&Ms, several extra pull-ups, and his Sponge Bob potty ring (we figured she had Monster Spray already in the bathroom).
Now we just wait to see how he did all day!
YAY XANDER!!!Comments:~the Hattens: Congrats! Way to go Xander! Now the fun begins....especially when you are out running errands and have to make a beeline for the potty! Get your running shoes out!Add a comment:

This is slightly late so parts are now outdated...sorry! Her last doctors appointment was exceptionally quick and easy since she didn't have to get any shots (woo hoo!). Dr. Duck completed the quick exam while asking if we had any questions. As a concerned mommy, I, of course, had to voice my concern about her lack of movement and distaste for standing. We told him it's not that she can't do many of the things most kids her age are doing, she just won't. She can stand and hold her bottle, she just won't. He finished up her physical exam and pulled her up to standing and said hmmm (like was surprised that she could stand). Once again he said her muscle tone is fine. He said he'll give her until her 12mo appointment to get out of this lazy stage, then he'll start testing her for hip problems.
Luckily, a few weeks have passed and Em has started standing A LOT more. She's also started swimming on the floor more and reachig for toys (mostly Xander's Hot Wheels that she's not allowed to have because she knaws the paint off). As I've said before, it's not that she can't do these things, it's just that she doesn't seem to want to--a lack of motivation. She's still not mobile but she's geting there. She seems more and more interested everyday.
With all of that said, she's such a sweet baby! She loves it when Daddy tickles her and she giggles until we've got tears! We've also started playing a new game on Saturdays and Sundays before their afternoon naps. Xander watches a few minutes of cartoons while Emilie plays the flop game on our bed. Emilie flops back on the bed and pulls her self back up by grapping one of our hands. She loves to do this so much, she plays until she falls alseep! : )
She's also becoming quite the dancer! We turn the radio on every evening during dinner. She sits in her high chair, popping peach puffs (her favorite) and bouncing to the music. She also makes all of her toys play music just so she can dance to them. She lights up whenever she dances, just like her big brother. Sounds like they inherited some talent from Daddy! : )Comments:Add a comment:

Emilie's second tooth came in today!!! She now has both of her bottom front teeth! Surely it will help her chew up all those peas and peaches and banana bread and blueberry muffins and bread and pancakes and baby ravioli she's been eating lately. She's becoming such a big girl! She throws fits now if we don't let her eat off of our plates. Earlier this week she had to try southwest ranch chip dip and a french fry. I don't think baby food will be in her diet much longer!
